Carbon dioxide is classified as a poisonous gas, as too much of it can restrict oxygen intake and can therefore be harmful or fatal. So it is a serious gas with appropriate Australian standards around its use storage and monitoring.
Tecair installs the CO2 monitor within areas where both storage of CO2 and workers co-mingle. As well as the monitor there is often a repeater, located at the staff entrance for additional safety, so arriving workers to a location will be made aware of an event through an audible and visible alarm in the case of a CO2 leak.
Testing of CO2 monitors requires our technicians to bring CO2 canisters so the detector and alarms are both engaged during the test, allowing certification as to it’s function and safety.
Tests are conducted bi-annually.
