Benchtop freezers or burger benches (as they are often referred to in the trade) are a fantastic use of space in commercial and retail kitchens. Temperatures are typically at -4 degrees celsius and located underneath the bench where kitchen staff are preparing food.
This can often be very close to heat sources such as ovens, stoves and fat friers which makes for a challenging environment to provide refrigeration.
Tecair has a number of national clients where we service and maintain the benchtop freezers in addition to onsite cool and freezer rooms.
Most new designs of such benches in addition to the under bench top freezer also have cold food prep areas within the benchtop itself.
Our experience in this industry is that it is very important to maintain the equipment in good working order to ensure the safe and hygienic storage of food prior to it’s use.
If the units are not working perfectly then it is possible that food can be stored above temperature for extended periods.
